Ovarian PRP Rejuvenation

What is ovarian rejuvenation PRP?

Ovarian rejuvenation platelet-rich plasma (PRP) is a fertility treatment that may address the issues of egg production and ovarian ageing. By injecting platelet-rich plasma growth factors directly into your ovaries to stimulate your stem cells, we may be able to help increase the number or quality of eggs you produce.

Whether you are trying to conceive naturally or through fertility treatments, such as IVF, ovarian rejuvenation therapy is a type of treatment that may assist your journey.

Is ovarian rejuvenation right for you?

Ovarian rejuvenation treatment may be beneficial for women who are of advanced maternal age, have struggled to conceive, suffered from several miscarriages, have been diagnosed with secondary infertility, are going through early menopause, or have experienced multiple failed IVF cycles.

As women age, so do the quality and quantity of their eggs. If a woman is experiencing low ovarian reserve or premature ovarian failure, the window to conceive without help could easily be missed. Ovarian PRP is an option to potentially help rejuvenate ovarian function, which may improve the ability to produce eggs.

What is the ovarian PRP process?

The process is natural, safe, and simple as we use your own blood. Your specialist will advise the best time to have the procedure performed per your menstrual cycle. If undergoing an additional fertility treatment, such as IVF, ovarian rejuvenation PRP is generally performed two to three months prior.

We'll take a blood sample from your arm - the same way we would for a standard blood test.

Your blood will be taken to our onsite lab where it will be put into a centrifuge and spun to separate the plasma from the red blood cells.

Injection

The procedure is minimally invasive and performed under either local or general anaesthetic in theatre. The plasma is injected directly into the ovaries via laparoscopy or transvaginally.

After your ovarian rejuvenation treatment is complete, you’ll need to go home and rest for the day. Most people are able to return to their usual activities the next day.

What are the risks of ovarian rejuvenation PRP?

As with any medical treatment, there are certain risks to consider. However, PRP is a generally safe procedure that uses minimally invasive methods with very low associated risks.

Mild tenderness is normal following the procedure but typically resolves within a few days. Light vaginal bleeding may occur, and the risk of local infection is under 1%.

To support optimal recovery, we recommend taking time to rest after the procedure.

Who shouldn’t have ovarian rejuvenation PRP?

This therapy is not suitable for individuals with known blood disorders, a history of chronic infections, or severe systemic or metabolic conditions. It is also not recommended if you are taking blood thinners (like Clexane or aspirin) or oral corticosteroids (such as prednisolone). Your specialist will offer personalised guidance based on your health needs.
