When you’re ready to take the first step on your fertility journey, remember you are not alone! We’re with you every step of the way, empowering you with knowledge, understanding and support.
While there is no definitive rule on when it’s best to seek advice from a fertility specialist, there are some general guides to help you understand when a consult with your GP could lead to a more specialist service. That’s not to say that, if you’re concerned about your fertility health, you have to wait. Fertility differs from person to person, and no journey is the same.
Trying for a baby can be a long and emotional process. For many people, seeking help from a fertility specialist can help them get a better understanding of the reproductive process, male and female infertility, and how they can improve their chances of having a baby.
Fertility isn’t always straightforward, and it can be beneficial to seek some advice on your journey. You might benefit from a chat with one of our fertility specialists if you:

are under 35 and have been trying to fall pregnant for 12+ months

are over 35 and have been trying to fall pregnant for 6+ months

have a pre-existing medical history or condition that may impact your fertility

have known fertility problems

would like to look into freezing your eggs for later use

would like a general fertility check-up to help plan when to start trying for a baby
While this is a good, general guide, sometimes the best time to ask for advice is when you become concerned about not conceiving. There are a number of pre-pregnancy screening tests that we can use to get a better idea of what’s going on. Getting support and understanding is the most important thing along your fertility health journey.
We can help you understand all the factors that affect fertility and how you can give yourself the best possible chance of having a baby. We’ll walk you through each fertility treatment option and create a care plan tailored to you and your unique needs.
There are times when we’d advise you to seek guidance from a fertility specialist straightaway. This is due to certain conditions that can impact your ability to conceive. Some of these conditions include:
And some male infertility factors that also shouldn’t be overlooked include:
Anyone can struggle with fertility, but it doesn’t have to mean that you won’t be able to fulfil your dreams of creating a family. As experts in reproductive endocrinology, our fertility team works to understand the underlying cause of your fertility challenges and discusses this with you in a way you’ll understand. We then work together to develop a personalised treatment plan that works for you.
For more information on when fertility testing may be required or to book an appointment with one of our fertility specialists, please contact our friendly team. We look forward to being part of your journey.
